Effective Immediately....

Yesterday morning while I was making my 2nd cup of tea the phone rang... I was already in business mode and without looking at the caller ID I answered "Good morning, this is Kelly".... The call was from my husband and right away I could tell something was wrong... Usually he would make fun of me for not checking called ID but this time he said - "Good morning, Kelly this is Dusty... (Long pause) - I hate to be the one to tell you this but I was just informed that effective immediately my position has been terminated...... I am so sorry"

First off - there is nothing to be sorry for.... Because of my husband and his incredible work ethic, brilliance, and motivation - I have NEVER been without Our children have never been without.... In reality - I've been completely blessed... I have a beautiful home that's almost paid off.... We have been able to send our children to the best schools... We have been on amazing vacations... We have saved for our future retirement... We have very little debt because of my husband..

My husband wants to do what he does best - provide for this family and yesterday his main role in our lives was taken away for a short time... I know it must be difficult for him - a man who has been successful since the minute he stepped into the work force over 25 years ago... His first job out of college he worked his way from sales representative to Vice President of Sales - he was there for 23 years... until the company was bought out by an overseas company and most of the upper management was eliminated.. Two years ago, he took a position with this company - knowing that in today's economy there was a very high chance it would not last.... Even though he was making a difference in his region - the rest of the company was losing money... and there you go....

I think Dusty is surprised that I am okay..... and I really am - I have no doubt that there is a job out there with his name on it... I believe in him... he has never failed me... so why would I think he would now?

  1. Oh Kelly, I'm sorry! It is really tough on a guy to lose his job and it will be hard on the rest of the family too.
God has a plan though, and a job for Dusty, as you already know!

  4. I'm sorry this happened to you. The same thing happened to us last year. My best friend told me, when God closes a door, he opens a window. He ended up with a much better job! I hope the same thing happens to your husband.

  6. I have been out of the workforce for years however, isn't there something about a notice and/or severance pay? It's good that your Dusty has your support though.

  7. It's the same story over and over. Great people doing great work and then out of a job. It happened to my ex and he was making six figures!!

Keep your positive attitude! He will be needing it because men really take this so hard.

  8. Kelly, I agree things will work out. We had the same thing happen, but my husband got a better job & closer to home. I know still it's like a slap in the face and leaves mixed emotions on everyone.

  9. What a strong affirmation of your man! I imagine this means more to him than any other validation in this moment. Oh sister, your faith is being stretched, and your calmness in the matter indicates that you have invested your heart and belief with the right and only Savior in the moments preceding this news. Keep to Him, and to your love for your husband. I am confident of your valiant and strong survival in it all because I am even more confident in the One who holds your today and your tomorrow!

Loved this so very much; thanks for sharing the need with us, and remember...

Christ is dispatching an answer and his truth in this very moment; keep watching for their unfolding.

    The kindness of God.

  10. You are an amazing woman and Dusty is fortunate to have your strength behind him. These valleys in our lifes are challenging, but they truly let us put God in control, which is what we should do daily regardless of the circumstances. I will keep you all in my prayers!

  12. It's only having a heart which trusts in God can ever face such surprising storm. What a beautiful testimony you shared about having that inner peace that comes from Him despite of that bad news you received. Bad news for now, yet, we don't know if the Lord is preparing for your hubby to have a bigger opportunity. Praying for the Lord's comfort to shower over your hubby and that may He open that door of opportunity...God bless sister. This economy is truly unstable. Thank God for the stability that comes from Christ.

  15. Kelly, Praying for a quick resolution. I know God will provide for your family. Perhaps this is God's way of helping you make that school decision as well.

Keep the good attitude. It's great that Dusty knows the faith you have in him.

  16. Kelly,

Its having a great attitude like that that will get you both through this time. It's the same story I keep hearing all over the place and one we just experienced ourselves two years ago. Stay close to your faith and encourage him each day.

    Love and Hugs ~ Kat

  17. My husband came home twice last year with the same news. We were lucky in that he did find a job each time within a few weeks. It was hard during those times and even now, I fear that he will come home and tell me that he is laid off again. Such is the life in the automotive business. I hope things will work out for you and him both. I know it will be as hard on both of you. Prayers headed your way!

  18. Kelly,

My husband got laid off over a year ago after 27 years. The company went bankrupt two months later so he lost his "year of severance", his pension was frozen, and he lost his benefits. I will keep your family in my prayers sweet lady.

    Blessings!
