I'm A Mess... TMI?

What I remember the most from the week before I was married twenty - one (21) years ago was throwing up everyday due to my nerves... I was a huge mess... Ever since I can remember - I have always had a nervous stomach... All major worries - life changing events had me bowing to the porcelain god.... TMI? Probably... Why am I tell you this? Well it so happens that something BIG is possibly on the horizon... Life changing Big....

As I shared with you not too long ago - my husband was laid off in March.... He is now in Tennessee - a long long long way from our Southern California home interviewing for a possible position... So far things are looking pretty good. He flew out there on Thursday morning - met with his potential co-workers - Friday he drove 200 miles through torrential rains and tornado warnings (something that a southern Californian doesn't hear too often) to another office to meet with a potential counter part... Today, on Saturday he met with a Realtor to get the lay of the land.... Sunday - he will look some more... On Monday and Tuesday he will be in South Carolina interviewing with more top level executives... It's crazy nerve-racking a process.....

I was delegated to get moving company quotes.... find out what we could list our home for... and my stomach is flip flopping away.... I am excited about the possible change.. Would love to have answers now.... But it looks like we will find out next week.... I hope the days go by fast... I remember when I was a kid and I was looking forward to the next day - my mom would say go to sleep and tomorrow will be here quicker... Well, I can't sleep for a week... but I pray the night and days go by faster.... until we get an answer....

How do you handle major life changing events?

  1. I stress, but try not to dwell on it too much, until I know it's happening.
    Sounds exciting and scary too!

  2. Change is good. I like looking to new possibilities. It can be nerve racking, but fun.

  3. I handle stress by not thinking about it. You know, the head in the sand mentality.
OOOO Tennesse isn't that far from me, just one state ;o) And you'll get to experience snow!

  4. How do I handle it? Sort of like you are...stomach flip-flopping with fear and excitement. A lot of prayer helps too. =)

    Enjoy this new opportunity!

  5. Wow! I don't handle stress that well...I will be in complete stress mood from Julyish until 18 months later..our youngest, who is in the Army, will be going to Afghanny. I will be praying for you all in this possible move. Plus, we will only be one state away from each other. It is beautiful over this way!

  7. Like Joan, a lot of prayer for me Kelly. How exciting that your husband has something lined up. I think you would love Tennessee. It is not too far from me. What a treat that would be to get to meet you one day. You are definitely one of my very favorite bloggers.

    Blessings

  9. California to Tennessee or S Carolina will be a big change, but having recently made a big move like that myself, it's not so bad :-) A new season, job, and home...God has His hand on you! Take it step by step, knowing that fretting about the details won't make things happen faster or any smoother. Pray about everything (it's been so amazing the details God took care of for us in the move and transition!) Blessings and peace to you and your family! MIKI

  10. WOW!! Good luck with the change.

I usually can't sleep the night before if something exciting is gonna happen the following day.

The year of the tiger promises wondrous opportunities for all.

  11. I understand how you're feeling. We've moved around a lot Kelly and the feelings of insecurity and uncertainty that accompany each and every one of those moves never seems to go away. Sometimes they are subliminal and other times they are at the forefront. I went through times of not sleeping and I got emotionally and physically sick as a result. Unlike you, I've always moved so I suspect that this being pretty much your first time after all those years can be excruciatingly stressful. I am here and will do all that I can to help you. Know this that even though it's stressful, it doesn't mean the Lord has abandoned you. He has gone before you, is with you now and will get you safely to where it is He needs for you to be.

  12. Sorry about the stress level. That's a hard way to handle stress. I will say that you probably aren't gaining weight though.. You can get some anxiety meds to get you through if you find that your physical symptoms are taking over your life. Keep laughing; it helps.

  13. Stress stinks. I have never moved across the country but moving is very stressful. Praying for your family.

  14. I worry, but typically I put my head down and plow through whatever it is. Then, when it is over, I realize how drained I am.
