Taking Care Of The 'Just In Case'

As a mom of two kids - my husband and I felt it was necessary to have a few things done right away... Get a will set up.... Pick guardians that love our kids... and get life insurance so our children would never be without... When we first started this process we had no idea where to begin....

Getting an estate planner to handle the will was pretty basic... But life insurance - not so easy to figure out... When we first started investigating what life insurance was... there were many decisions to make... such as... Did we want term life or whole life...? How much did we want to spend... for how much coverage... What companies were reputable. We had so many questions...

The first thing we had to do was start at the beginning... How do we find life insurance quotes? Quotes for Term life... Quotes for whole life... We needed to find a way to educate ourselves about life insurance so that we can make the right decision. After we determined what direction we wanted to go we needed to get life insurance quote comparisons.. Again - that is a difficult thing to do if you did not know where to go....

We were lucky to find http://www.lifeinsurancequotes.net - it took the hassle of going through the many search engines - trying to find a few good companies.. then having to talk to salespeople who wanted our business but would take too much time away from my day.... I am not the most patient person - so getting life insurance quotes at my finger tips was more my style....

If you are in the market for affordable life insurance - check them out.... I am glad we did... I think it is so important to be prepared for the "Just in Case" things that can happen but pray that they don't... I can tell you from personal experience - knowing that all of this stuff is done - it takes a worry out of traveling...a worry out of just in case something happens to us - I know my kids are covered at least financially and are with people who love them...

Do You Know What It Is?????

On my desk I have a little jar.... This little jar is always in front of me.... I have this little jar below my monitor because I spend most of my days in front of it... What is in this jar is a constant reminder to me....... A reminder that I want to be a pleasing aroma to those I know... those I meet... and mostly to God.... What I mean by a pleasing aroma is not my actual body scent (although I hope that I am appealing).... but the way I present myself.... The way I live my life..

If you look in the jar you will see many little "pebbles" of various sizes and shapes... The aroma of these pebbles is a beautiful spicy mixture.... An aroma you will not find here in America....

Can you guess what it is????? For the answer click here....

Learning From My Mistakes

I believe it is necessary to be honest with your children... When my kids ask me questions about my colorful past I answer them... Of course, I will not go into the microscopic details...but I do tell enough to answer the questions... My kids need to see me as a person who has made mistakes... who has made HUGE mistakes and has overcome them... or at least has learned from them... I am not proud of the things I have done but I do believe that my mistakes and experiences have helped me to have better discernment... have better BS detection... and have an understanding of the way the world is... the way my kids' world is.... I am not naive... As I have told my kids many times...
Been There.... Done That.... Wrote The Book! Nothing they can think up or do or want to do would surprise me... or shock me.... I am a woman... I was a teenager.. I was a child... and my memory is long.. my memory is great... my feelings and emotions were once like theirs... and in many ways still is....

I don't want my kids to learn from others my life's story.... I don't want secrets.. I don't want shame.... A good friend of mine told me a story once about her experience with a "secret".. A "secret" that she wasn't ready to share with her thirteen (13) year old daughter.... She told me how a good friend of hers was watching her kids.... and this "good" friend of hers decided to tell the story of her mother's (my friend) abortion.... On that night - my friend's daughter lost her innocence... lost seeing her mom as perfect.... It took many years for my friend and her daughter to make peace with this... the pain... the shame... the damage that was inflicted by a careless "friend"..... Today - my friend and her daughter are advocates for pro-life... and my friend made peace with God.... But this story should never have been told by the "friend" - it's a story that should have had the chance to be told by my friend...

In my honesty to my children - I want them to learn from my experiences... from my joys.. from my happiness.. from my sorrows.. and yes, from my mistakes... They will make plenty of their own mistakes and I pray they will learn and grow from them... But if my experiences can help them to avoid some of the pitfalls of life... I hope... I pray that they will....

Abortion is Forever...

I saw a bumper sticker the other day - it said Adoption is another Option - it crossed the letters in the word abortion to change it to adoption... I liked that.... Today's society has become so harden towards human life..... You hear things like - a woman should have a choice about her body... she wasn't ready to be a mom yet.... Oh it's easy to get an abortion -it's almost painless...

Abortion has become another form of birth control... I remember listening to Rosie O'Donnell rant about being pro-abortion..... in the middle of her rant - I remembered the words of Ronald Reagan... "Abortion is advocated only by persons who already have been born"

I remember when I was talking to a birth mother and I asked her why she decided to put her baby up for adoption... Her answer to me was "It was too late to abort it" WOW... I think for the first time I was utterly speechless... I will say that I did not feel judgment towards her - I never thought she was a bad person... I was just shocked on how easily the words came to her lips... Many people don't realize that abortion is killing a human life...

I know Planned Parenthood would never call it a human life.... they call it (the baby) tissue removal... seriously... I remember when I was in my first year of college.. My best friend found out she was pregnant. She decided to have an abortion.. In those days - I thought she was making a good choice.. until.. I took her to her appointment - I remember walking through a line of picketers and going into the waiting room... She went back right away and I found a comfortable couch to sit on.. I did not have anything to read so I people watched.... There was one mother who brought her daughter in - the girl must have been around thirteen - when the young girl came out - the mother laughed and said "I told you it wasn't a big deal".... that moment will forever be burned into my brain... the complete disgust of it....

My friend came out when it was over - we looked at each other and we cried..... Twenty-four years later - my friend who is still a best friend today - still feels the guilt... especially when she looks at her beautiful 15 year old daughter... It's a guilt that I pray will go a way...

"The first thing I'd do as president is sign the Freedom of Choice Act. That's the first thing that I'd do." -- Senator Barack Obama, speaking to the Planned Parenthood Action Fund, July 17, 2007

This act is the most radical abortion law yet - Freedom of Choice Act - click on the link to get more information.....

Once an abortion has been done there is no going back.....

I found this story so amazing..... It goes to show you that a baby is a baby even at 21 weeks...11 weeks.... 2 weeks...conception...

Adoption is also a choice... says this Adoptive mother of two beautiful girls....
